back pain therapy
back pain OVERVIEW
If you've ever groaned, "Oh, my aching back!", you are not alone. Back pain is one of the most common medical problems, affecting 8 out of 10 people at some point during their lives. Back pain can range from a dull, constant ache to a sudden, sharp pain. Acute back pain comes on suddenly and usually lasts from a few days to a few weeks. Back pain is called chronic if it lasts for more than three months.

THERAPY OVERVIEW
Low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) can provide noninvasive, safe and easy to apply method to treat pain, inflammation and dysfunctions associated with back pain, sciatica and neuropathy and PEMF has a long term record of safety. The analysis of various studies of pain, cell culture systems and clinical trials reporting the use of PEMF for pain cure has conclusively shown that PEMF not only alleviates the pain in the condition but it also affords chondroprotection, exerts antiinflammatory action and helps in cell health and has been developed as a viable alternative for back pain therapy.

effectiveness
Fifty participants with non-specific low back pain (control group n = 25; experimental group n = 25) were randomized. There were significant between-group differences in pain scores (mean difference – MD 1.52; 95%CI −0.34 to 3.35), function disability (MD 8.14; 95%CI 6.5 to 9.96), Range of Motion (ROM) of lumbar flexion (MD −1.27; 95%CI −1.09 to −1.45), ROM of lumbar extension (MD −1.1; 95%CI −0.97 to −1.23), ROM of lumbar right side bending (MD 8.2; 95%CI 6.56 to 9.84) and ROM of lumbar left side bending (MD 10.4; 95%CI 8.81 to 11.99) in favor of the experimental group.
